Laapataa Ladies is steady but fails to see a big jump in the collections. Aamir Khan produced, and Kiran Rao directed this village-based comedy, which received strong word-of-mouth. The film initially had a limited release in theaters as the creators opted for a gradual but consistent approach. Positive feedback from viewers has contributed to the film’s growing success each day on the first weekend. However, from the fourth day, the film’s numbers were less the same and did not see much revenue surge.
Pratibha Ratna, Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastav, and Ravi Kishan play significant roles in the movie. The trade circles and a few movie lovers on social media felt that Aamir Khan should have gone for a regular big release with more aggressive promotions, which could have helped the film get more respectable numbers. For 7 days, the film has collected 5.5 Crores Net and 6.5 Crores Gross in India. With an impactful competitor, Article 370, and another new movie, Shaitaan, hitting the theaters on March 8, the chances for Laapataa Ladies to get big numbers are meager.
Laapataa Ladies presents a humorous portrayal of two brides in rural India who unintentionally switch places during a train voyage. The story unfolds in the fictional state of Nirmal Pradesh and revolves around Phool and Pushpa, the two brides who find themselves mistakenly exchanged on the train. As a result, one bride is taken to her new home by the groom, while the other is left stranded at a railway station.
