Kottukkaali, the much-acclaimed Tamil film in recent times, is preparing for its digital release. Starring Soori and Anna Ben in the lead roles, the film was released in theaters a few weeks ago, and it will be made available for online streaming for non-Indian viewers at first. Kottukkaali will premiere on Simply South on September 27.
Director PS Vinothraj, who is known for the critically acclaimed film Lok Koozhangal (Pebbles), has directed Kottukkaali. It is the second film of the director, and even this film also made much noise at the International Film Festivals. Kottukkaali was released in theaters on August 23, 2024. Though the film did not have many takers for it, the critics praised the film. As of now, the digital partner of the film in India is yet to be announced, but as said above, it will be made available for outside Indian viewers on Simply South from September 27, 2024.
Kottukkaali tells the story of a woman named Meena, who is tortured by her family because she loves a man from the lower caste. She tried to be silent and fight with family without making any fuss, but the family members think that she has been possessed and take her to a shaman. Pandi is the man who is supposed to marry Meena, and he accompanies Meena and her family on their way to Shaman. Actor Sivakarthikeyan has produced the film under Saivakarthikeyan productions.
