The makers of Kottukkaali, the forthcoming Tamil film, released the trailer of the film on Tuesday. The film, which stars actors Soori and Anna Ben in the lead roles, will be released in theaters on August 23. It was already shown in a few film festivals and received favorable response.
Kottukkaali is an upcoming Tamil film, starring Anna Ben and Soori in lead characters. The makers of the film released the trailer on Tuesday. The trailer has noises of the rooster throughout its runtime, and Anna Ben’s character is seen in the first frame. She sees a rooster which is being tied to a rock and unable to move. Anna Ben does not have dialogues in the trailer, and we further see Soori trying to get rid of the evil spirits who have possessed her, as the family is seen getting ready for the rituals. We can also observe Soori has some problem and he cannot talk clearly. The film is directed by filmmaker PS Vinothraj who earlier made the critically appreciated Koozhangal. Kottukkaali marks the director’s second film and, just like his debut, the makers released Kottukkaali on the festival circuit and got early positive reviews. Actor Sivakarthikeyan produces Kottukkaali under his home banner Sivakarthikeyan Productions. The film marks Anna Ben’s launch in the Tamil film industry.
Kottukkaali revolves around two families who are preparing to wed their daughter, Meena, and son, Pandi. However, the situations turn unexpected as it is revealed that Meena is in love with a man from a lower caste. Also Meena’s silent behavior makes her family believe that she has been possessed. Soori and Anna Ben’s performances in the film have been highly praised during the film’s screening at international film festivals. It also marks the first time Soori and Anna Ben are collaborating on a film.
