Vijayawada MP, Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) is not getting the TDP ticket this time to contest again in the 2024 general election. He is currently serving the second term and had high hopes on becoming the MP for the third consecutive term.
However, party senior leaders have communicated to the MP that he would not get the party ticket this time. Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu had decided that the ticket would be given to a new face in the coming elections.
Former ministers Nettem Raghuram and Alapati Rajendraprasad and former MP Konakalla Narayana Rao met Kesineni at his office on Thursday and conveyed Chandrababu Naidu’s word to the MP. He was told to be out of the race for the third consecutive term.
The MP posted in the social media stating this and said that he would abide by the word of the party chief. He said I would accept whatever the party chief decides and would keep away from the party activities.
He said he had promised not to indulge in any party activities in the days to come and had conveyed the same to the party leaders.
The party leadership had been promoting his brother Kesineni Sivanadh (Chinna) in his place for the past three years. Chinna had been active in the party and had been touring the seven Assembly segments in the Vijayawada Parliament constituency.
Chinna is also holding meetings with the party Assembly conveners and holding parallel meetings. It was in one of such meetings held in Tiruvur the other day, the supporters of Chinna and Nani clashed. The leaders are making arrangements for the January 7th public meeting in Tiruvuru to be addressed by party chief Chandrababu Naidu.
Nani made hard hitting comments against a section of leaders in the party who have been working against him. He said he would work for the party, and no one would stop him and dared the party leaders to face him in the public.
Hours after this clash, party senior leaders have met Nani and told him that the party would not give him ticket in the coming elections. The leaders have also told him to keep away from the party activities from now to facilitate the party to nominate a new candidate.
It is now to be seen what Kesineni would do as his next move to protect his leadership and his supporters in the constituency.
