The Tamil movie Star, featuring actor Kavin in the main role, has recently premiered on OTT platforms. It can now be streamed on Prime Video in Tamil with the option of English subtitles. Star was directed by Elan, known for his earlier work on the romantic drama Pyaar Prema Kadhal. Star is the second directorial project by Elan, starring Kavin as the lead. The movie follows the journey of a boy named Kalai, who dreams of becoming an actor from a young age. It depicts the various challenges he encounters throughout his life and explores whether he achieves his goal of becoming an actor in the end.
In addition to Kavin, the movie features notable actors such as Preity Mukundan, Lal, Aaditi Pohankar, Geetha Kailasam, and several others. Director Vetrimaaran also makes a noteworthy cameo appearance as himself in Star. Yuvan Shankar Raja, a renowned composer, has provided the music for the movie featuring Kavin. Additionally, he has also composed for Elan’s directorial debut. The cinematography is handled by Ezhil Arasu K, while Vinoth Raj Kumar N serves as the art director, and Pradeep E Ragav takes charge of the editing. The film was released in theaters on May 10 and received a mixed to positive response. Kavin’s performance, in particular, received special recognition. According to critics, Star is a film that captivates in certain aspects, showcasing raw honesty. However, it lacks a certain enchantment that immerses the audience in the protagonist’s journey to become an actor.
Star was initially introduced with actor Harish Kalyan, but for undisclosed reasons, he was later replaced by Kavin. Kavin is now set to star in several upcoming films, including Bloody Beggar with Nelson Dilipkumar, an untitled project with director-choreographer Satish, and Mask alongside Andrea Jeremiah.
