The actor and composer GV Prakash was recently featured in the Tamil rural drama Kalvan. The official streaming date for the film has been announced, with it set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on May 14. It will be accessible in all South Indian languages. Kalvan initially hit theatres on April 4 and garnered mixed reviews. As the film gears up for its OTT debut on Disney+ Hotstar on May 14, it remains to be seen whether it will receive a similar lukewarm response or not.
PV Shankar is the cinematographer behind Kalvan. The movie follows two petty criminals, one of whom aspires to become a forest officer. To fulfill his ambition, he goes to great lengths, even going as far as adopting an elderly man from a hospice and taking him in. Ivana, known for her role in Love Today, stars as the female lead in Kalvan. Dheena, Bharathiraja, G Gnanasambandam, and Vinoth Munna, among others, have important roles in the film. Produced by G Dilli Babu for Axess Film Factory, director Shankar takes charge of the camera work, and Ramesh Aiyappan co-writes the story. SJ Arjun and Sivakumar Murugesan contributed to the additional screenplay, while Raymond Derrick Crasta edited Kalvan. The movie garnered a variety of opinions from critics upon its release. Most reviewers expressed concerns about the melodramatic elements, lack of clarity, and diluted screenplay overshadowing an intriguing concept. Despite the commendable performances by the main cast, there is an undeniable drawback in the storytelling, and it appears that Kalvan fails to perceive it.
GV Prakash’s most recent appearance was in DeAr, where he starred alongside Aishwarya Rajesh. The movie can be streamed on Netflix. He is set to appear in Kingston, a high-budget fantasy film, in the near future. In terms of music, GV Prakash is currently occupied with composing for Thangalaan, Amaran, Veera Dheera Sooran, Vanangaan, and Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam in Tamil, as well as Lucky Baskhar and Robinhood in Telugu.
