Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD boasts a star-studded cast that includes renowned actors from various Indian film industries. This cinematic venture serves as the inaugural installment in the Kalki Cinematic Universe, drawing inspiration from Hindu scriptures ranging from Mahabharata to Kalyug. The film takes place in the post-apocalyptic world of 2898 AD, specifically in the desolate city of Kasi, now transformed into a barren desert. Within this city, a select group embarks on a crucial mission to safeguard a laboratory subject known as SUM-80, who is more commonly referred to as Kalki. The ruler of Kasi is the Supreme Yaksin, portrayed by Kamal Haasan, who is also recognized as the God of the Complex. Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone portrays the pregnant lab subject SUM-80, who is not only the mother of Kalki but also plays a pivotal role in the narrative. Joining the cast are Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan, who assume the lead roles. Prabhas skillfully portrays both a bounty hunter named Bhairava and the character of Karna, while Amitabh Bachchan takes on the role of Ashwatthama. Disha Patani appears as Roxie, Saswata Chatterjee as Commander Manas, and Malvika Nair as Uttara. Brahmanandam portrays the character of Rajan, Bhairava’s landlord, and Keerthy Suresh embodies the AI droid Bujji (BU-JZ-1), serving as Bhairava’s companion. Additionally, Pasupathy and Anna Ben portray the rebels Veeran and Kyra respectively, hailing from Shambhala.

Kalki 2898 AD also features Vijay Deverakonda as Arjuna, Mrunal Thakur as Divya, Dulquer Salmaan as Bhairava’s guardian, and SS Rajamouli as Bhairava’s rival. These esteemed actors make cameo appearances in the film, which is currently being screened in theaters.
