Prabhas and Nag Ashwin’s Magnum Opus Kalki 2898 AD is performing consistently at the box office. The film has already crossed the gigantic mark of 800 Crores at the box office and is still going strong. For 12 Days, Kalki has collected nearly 830 Crores at the worldwide box office.
On Monday, the 2D edition of Kalki 2898 AD witnessed an average occupancy rate of 23.72% in Telugu. The morning show began with a 16.03% occupancy, which rose to 22.69% in the afternoon and peaked at 29.13% during evening screenings. Nevertheless, the night shows saw a decrease, with an occupancy rate of just 27.02%. The film was affected by the heavy rains in Maharashtra (Especially the Mumbai Region), but the Hindi version collected nearly 7 Crores Net on Monday. Filmmaker Nag Ashwin’s ambitious project, Kalki 2898 AD, is a unique blend of science fiction and star power. Premiering in theaters on June 27, 2024, the film boasts a stellar cast including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan. This star-studded lineup, combined with an engaging storyline, has propelled the film to the top of the box office charts, making it one of the year’s top-grossing films.
Kalki 2898 AD presents an engaging storyline and breathtaking visuals that capture the audience’s attention. In a dystopian future, 6000 years after the Kurukshetra war of the Mahabharata, the movie depicts a world under the control of powerful entities. Prabhas portrays the character of Bhairava, a determined bounty hunter, alongside Deepika Padukone as Sumathi (SUM-80), a pregnant test subject. Amitabh Bachchan embodies Ashwatthama, with a solid connection to the Mahabharata, while Kamal Haasan brings to life the imposing supreme leader, Yaskin. Despite the ongoing epic narrative, the conclusion of the story remains uncertain. The filmmakers have announced a sequel in progress, building excitement for the next chapter. Although the release date has not been disclosed, some reports suggest a summer 2025 premiere, which seems highly unlikely given the extensive time required for filming and post-production of such a grand-scale film.
