Joker: Folie à Deux Goes Digital Early After Poor Reception

“Joker,” starring Joaquin Phoenix, was a blockbuster at the box office, but the reception towards its sequel, “Joker: Folie à Deux,” has been quite the opposite, with a disastrous response and poor performance at the box office. Despite being one of the most highly anticipated films and the excitement surrounding Harley Quinn’s inclusion, played by Lady Gaga as Joker’s love interest, it failed to resonate with the audience.

The reasons for this are quite evident. The film lacks a strong plot, and even during intense moments, it breaks into musical numbers. The storyline is conveyed through numerous songs, with the lyrics intended to provide the emotional depth of the plot, but this approach unfortunately did not connect with fans. After the intense drama of “Joker,” one would expect a similar turnaround in its sequel; however, it fell short, resulting in a disappointing climax as well.

Recent reports indicate that the makers of “Joker: Folie à Deux” are opting for an early OTT release. The film will be available to stream on digital platforms starting October 28th, just a month after its theatrical release on October 2nd.
