Jigra, the latest action drama, underperformed in its first weekend at the box office. Released in theaters on October 11, 2024, the film received mixed reviews, and the effect of such a response is reflected in the numbers of the film. Despite huge publicity and having a star like Alia Bhatt in the lead role, Jigra failed to perform at the expected level.
On its first day, Jigra collected 5 crore net in India, and on its second day, it gathered nearly 7 crore, and on the third day, it dipped and gathered 5.5 crore net, taking the three-day net collections’ total to 17.5 crore and the gross collection will be 21.5 crore. The trade circles are very disappointed with Jigra’s box office performance, and the shocking thing is the first weekend total of the film is less than the old films of Alia Bhatt, where she was the lead. Raazi (2018) and Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022) collected more than Jigra on their first weekends. The Sunday number being less than Saturday is a worrying thing for Jigra.
Jigra features Alia as Satya and Vedang Raina as Anand. Anand is imprisoned in a false drug case and is tortured in jail. Satya vows to save her brother, and she is ready to face any consequences to make her mission successful. Manoj Pahwa and Rahul Ravindran appeared in supporting roles. Directed by Vasan Bala, the film has been jointly produced by Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt under Eternal Sunshine Productions and Dharma Productions banners.
