Jigra, Alia Bhatt’s latest action drama, continued its struggle at the box office in its second weekend. The film was the first theatrical release of Alia after Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, and everyone was excited to see Alia in an action avatar. The posters and promos raised the anticipation for the film, but eventually it failed to live up to the expectations of audiences.
Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra was released in theaters on October 11, 2024, and it received mostly negative reviews from audiences and critics, with only a minute section of them liking the performance of Alia. Jigra collected 22 crore net in its first week, and it could only gather another 4 crore on its second weekend. On its eighth day, the action drama collected 1 crore net and showed little jump on the ninth and tenth days, collecting 1.30 crore and 1.70 crore, respectively. Overall, for 10 days, Jigra gathered 26 crore net and 31 crore gross at the domestic box office. The film turned out to be a big failure at the box office.
Though the plot of Jigra had a good emotional and exciting plot, the director failed to present it in an engaging way, according to most of the reviews. Most of the reviews mentioned that the unexcting writing and taking letdown the film despite Alia Bhatt trying her best to carry the film on her shoulders. The actress did get involved in a lot of promotions for the film, but all her efforts got wasted with the film’s disastrous result.
