Jeremy Renner recently spoke about the possibility of returning as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This comes over a year after the actor was involved in a devastating snowplow accident that left him with 30 broken bones.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Renner provided an update on his recovery journey. “I’m probably 90 percent of all the things I needed to be doing…I think another six months will be hopefully running [more]… I got to set goals for myself. I’ll do whatever I can… whatever it takes to get better, to get stronger,” he said.
The Mayor of Kingstown actor went on to share how supportive his Avengers co-stars have been throughout the process. “All those guys come to my bedside, and they’ve been with me all along through this recovery, so… if they want me, they could have me.”
Later in the interview, Renner revealed he is “always game” to reprise his role as Hawkeye in the MCU. “I’m gonna be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’ll be ready,” he told ET. The actor first played the superhero archer in 2011’s Thor and most recently in the 2021 Disney+ series Hawkeye. Fans were concerned Renner may not fully recover from his injuries. But his comments indicate he is regaining strength and eager to portray Hawkeye again when Marvel calls.
