Karan Johar, the renowned filmmaker, had undertaken the production of the sequel to the famous movie ‘Dostana,’ which featured John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra, and Abhishek Bachchan. This sequel, titled ‘Dostana 2,’ was to be directed by Collin D’Cunha and starred Janhvi Kapoor alongside Lakshya Lalwani (who is set to make his feature debut with the film ‘Kill’) and Kartik Aaryan. However, the movie’s production took an unexpected turn when it was abruptly halted due to a reported conflict between Aaryan and Johar. Let’s delve into Kapoor’s perspective on this matter. Janhvi Kapoor discussed her experience shooting for ‘Dostana 2’ in an interview with Lallantop. She mentioned that she spent around 30-35 days filming for the movie and felt that the shoot was progressing smoothly. Despite this, she was confused about why the film was ultimately shelved. The production had begun long before the COVID-19 pandemic, but due to unforeseen circumstances, there was a delay of over one-and-a-half years. Janhvi Kapoor expressed uncertainty regarding the decision to restart the film after such a long hiatus. Janhvi Kapoor further spoke about the rumors surrounding the feud between Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar. She said, “I don’t think it was that. I think work is extremely important to both of them. But unke beech kya hua kya nahi hua, you should ask them about it.”
Despite their differences, Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan decided to reconcile and join forces on a film in November 2023. This news brings a ray of hope for their fans, as they are coming together once again for a project co-produced by Ekta Kapoor and scheduled to be released in August 2025.
