The digital release of the Malayalam film Higuita is finally happening. This political thriller will soon be available to stream on Saina Play. Nevertheless, the filmmakers have yet to disclose the precise release date. Suraj Venjaramoodu, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Manoj K Jayan, Indrans, Vineeth Kumar, and Binu Pappu form the movie’s ensemble cast. Its release date was on March 31 of the previous year. The film gained attention when N S Madhavan raised concerns about its title. Interestingly, N S Madhavan’s short story also bears the name “Higuita,” and the writer claimed that the Dhyan Sreenivasan-starrer had infringed upon his rights to adapt his own short story into a film.
The protagonist in the film is Pannyannoor Mukundhan, a Leftist politician from Malabar who is consistently in danger. Ayyapa Das, a civil police officer, becomes his bodyguard upon entering the police force. Following the death of Das’ father, who was also in the police force, he is compelled to assume this responsibility because of financial difficulties. The film received acclaim for portraying the interpersonal conflicts among individuals working nearby.
After the release of Varshangalkku Shesham, the actor’s latest film, on SonyLIV on June 6, it can be inferred that the digital streaming service paid a substantial sum for the digital rights to the movie, given the buzz surrounding it. The film’s director is Vineeth Sreenivasan, who happens to be the actor’s brother. Another film titled Malayalee From India, starring Dhyan will be accessible on the same platform starting from July 5. Dhyan plays a significant role in this particular movie. The film’s lackluster performance at the box office and the mixed reviews it received upon its theatrical release contributed to the delay in its OTT release.
