High Ticket Prices Dampen Bharateeyudu 2 Even Further

The box office, which saw a significant revival with the release of Prabhas’s “Kalki 2898 AD,” is now experiencing an unexpected slight decrease despite the release of a big film like Kamal Haasan’s “Indian 2.” Many attribute this downturn to the rising ticket prices, which seem to be dampening the enthusiasm of the common audience who seek affordable entertainment. The high expectations set by “Kalki 2898 AD” have not translated into sustained box office success, with “Indian 2” failing to maintain the momentum.

“Indian 2,” despite being a sequel to the blockbuster “Indian” (1996), did not generate the anticipated buzz, and its trailer was not well-received. Interest in the film picked up slightly when Kamal Haasan’s pivotal role in “Kalki 2898 AD” garnered attention, but it was not enough to create the hype needed for a major hit. The lackluster trailer and initial marketing efforts did not help, leading to a muted reception from audiences.

The star power of Kamal Haasan and the direction of Shankar managed to bring in decent openings on Day 1 for “Indian 2.” However, this initial success did not carry over to the subsequent days. The film received a lukewarm response and mostly negative reviews, which, coupled with the increased ticket prices, intensified its poor performance. Many feel that if ticket prices had been more affordable, “Indian 2” might have had a better chance of sustaining its run over the weekend, regardless of the word-of-mouth reviews.
