The state government had issued a GO on Thursday identifying and allocating accommodation for the government offices in Visakhapatnam. The officials have given a proposal to the state government giving details of the government buildings available in Visakhapatnam. They have also identified some private buildings in the city.
Based on this, the government issued orders on Thursday allocating the space for every government office. The space was given to the senior officials and the subordinate staff in the available accommodation.
The state government had issued orders a couple of weeks ago stating that the officials have to shift to Visakhapatnam. The government had said that chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and other ministers and senior officials of the state government would have to camp in Visakhapatnam to monitor the welfare and developmental works in north Andhra region.
Accordingly, the officials identified both the government and private buildings to accommodate the senior officials, ministers and the subordinate officials.
The government identified space for ministers and senior officials at the Rishi Konda Millennium Towers. The chief minister was given the A tower, while the ministers were given the B tower. There is about 1.75 lakh square feet of space available in the millennium towers.
Several other departments were directed to take the private buildings. The officials were also asked to be prepared to move to Visakhapatnam whenever the chief minister visits the city and camps here. The officials were also told that the ministers too would visit the city and camp here to monitor the welfare and developmental programmes in the region.
The orders were issued following the AP Reorganisation Act 2014 to provide equal development and access to the regions and people.
