It appears that we will soon have another reason to admire the star, thanks to Lionsgate Play, which is preparing to release a movie featuring him and Jonathan Majors, also known as the former Kang The Conqueror. The upcoming film, Devotion, is the one that has everyone talking.
In addition to being an actor, Glen Powell took on the executive producer role for the 2022 film Devotion. After reading Adam Makos’ 2017 book Devotion: An Epic Story of Heroism, Friendship, and Sacrifice, Powell was inspired by the story of naval fighter pilots Tom Hudner and Jesse Brown. However, the release date for the film has not been confirmed.
Devotion is a war drama set during the Korean War, featuring US pilots who display an act of bravery that elevates them to hero status. The film stars Glen Powell, Jonathan Majors, Joe Jonas, and Christina Jackson and is directed by JD Dillard. It will soon be available on Lionsgate Play and can also be accessed with the OTTplay Premium subscription. During a conversation with Variety, Glen Powell shared an anecdote about meeting Jonathan Majors for the film in a sauna. He admired Majors, stating, “Obviously, Jonathan Majors is going to be on the Mount Rushmore of great actors of our generation. I had just seen The Last Black Man in San Francisco and was like, ‘This is the guy. We have to get him.’ He read and liked the script, and I flew to New York to meet him. I remember getting a nervous call from the producers saying, ‘Hey, Jonathan wants to meet you at a Russian bathhouse. Is that okay?’ I was like, ‘Sure. I will sell him on this movie in a Russian bath.’ It’s funny to meet someone where you’re basically naked and pitching them. But we were there for hours and came out as great friends.”
