The 2004 Tamil superhit Ghilli has returned to cinemas to celebrate its 20th anniversary since its initial release. Dharani directed the film, which starred lead actors Vijay and Trisha in a remake of the Telugu film Okkadu, which featured Mahesh Babu and Bhoomika Chawla. Ghilli was a massive commercial success and stood out in both Vijay and Trisha’s careers. The plot revolves around Velu saving Dhanalakshmi from Muthupandi and taking her to Chennai, where they face off against the thug who tracks them down. The film was highly praised upon its release, particularly for the main cast’s performances. Prakash Raj’s portrayal of Muthupandi became iconic, with his famous line “Chellam, I love you” still resonating with audiences today.
