The 2004 Tamil superhit Ghilli has returned to cinemas to celebrate its 20th anniversary since its initial release. Dharani directed the film, which starred lead actors Vijay and Trisha in a remake of the Telugu film Okkadu, which featured Mahesh Babu and Bhoomika Chawla. Ghilli was a massive commercial success and stood out in both Vijay and Trisha’s careers. As the film reappears on the big screen, numerous fans have taken to social media to express their excitement for this beloved classic.

Ghilli, after two decades since its initial release, has made a comeback in cinemas. The film is being showcased on specific screens in India and abroad, and social media platforms are abuzz with enthusiastic audiences rejoicing in its return. Not only are fans from France, Ireland, and various other nations sharing videos from the theaters, but they are also relishing the film as if it were their first encounter with it. The movie Ghilli follows the story of Velu, a man who arrives in a village and witnesses Dhanalakshmi being harassed by the local thug, Muthupandi, to marry him. The plot revolves around Velu saving Dhanalakshmi from Muthupandi and taking her to Chennai, where they face off against the thug who tracks them down. The film was highly praised upon its release, particularly for the main cast’s performances. Prakash Raj’s portrayal of Muthupandi became iconic, with his famous line “Chellam, I love you” still resonating with audiences today.

AM Rathnam produced Ghilli, which features songs composed by Vidyasagar. The film’s exceptional soundtrack is its standout feature, including popular tracks like Arjunaru Villu and Apadi Podhu.
