Gaami: Director Vidyadhar Kagita talks about interesting things about the film

Gaami has become a phenomenal success at the box office. The captivating fantasy drama was helmed by Vidyadhar Kagita, who is being hailed as the emerging director to keep an eye on. His enthralling storytelling has resonated with numerous viewers. Vidyadhar’s dedication to the film spans almost eight years, as he embarked on this project as a crowd-funded endeavor due to the unavailability of a producer.

The film was halfway through when several producers came on board and successfully finished it, leading to its release. This entire process spanned six years from the moment Gaami started production. When questioned about this, Vidyadhar Kagita, acknowledging the film’s remarkable viewership on OTT platforms, revealed, “Throughout the six years it took to make this film, I fervently prayed for its completion and hoped it would see the light of day. I even committed not to pursue any other film projects and return to my job.” Vishwak Sen, among others, contributed to the film’s success by acting in it without receiving any payment. With the film being a success and available on OTT platforms, Vishwak Sen has decided to take some of the profits. Originally planned to be made with a budget of Rs 80 lakh, the budget for Gaami eventually escalated to Rs 2 crore.

Due to the warm reception received, Gaami managed to earn around Rs 15 crore during its entire run at the box office. Additionally, Gaami has become a massive success on OTT platforms, accumulating over 100 million viewing minutes within just five days of its release on Zee5. Vidyadhar expresses his appreciation for the feedback provided by the OTT audience and acknowledges a few complaints regarding his film. Although he has yet to sign on for a new project, he reveals that he has already prepared the concept for his second film, which will also be a fantasy drama similar to Gaami. What kind of film he will create next remains to be seen.
