Netizens were in for a shock yesterday night as GV Prakash Kumar, the actor and composer, along with his wife-singer Saindhavi, have revealed their decision to separate after 11 years of marriage. The couple shared this news late Monday, releasing a joint statement on their respective social media platforms. This sudden announcement shocked the fans on social media, and many posted that they did not expect this pair to split.

In a statement they posted, they said, “After much reflection, Saindhavi and I have decided to part ways after 11 years of marriage. For the sake of our mental peace and betterment while preserving our mutual respect for each other. We kindly ask the media friends and fans to understand and respect our privacy during this deeply personal transition.” The duo also requested understanding and support from the public during this time. GV Prakash and Saindhavi were childhood lovers and tied the knot in 2013. They are blessed with a daughter named Avni, who was born in 2020. It is worth mentioning that Saindhavi has showcased her singing talent in several songs composed by GV Prakash. Notable tracks include “Yaaro Ivan” from Udhayam NH4, “Pirai Thedum” from Mayakkam Enna, and “Vizhigalil Oru Vaanavili” from Deiva Thirumagal, among others.

Saindhavi, a Carnatic music-trained vocalist, has established herself as a playback singer in the Tamil film industry. She has lent her voice to Tamil and Kannada films as well. Saindhavi marked her entry into the industry by collaborating with singers KK and Shreya Ghoshal for the famous song “Andangkaka” from the movie Anniyan. On the other hand, GV Prakash, who recently appeared in DeAr, is currently engaged as a musician in various films such as Thangalaan, Nilavu Enmel Enadi Kobam, and Suriya 43. Additionally, he will also showcase his musical talents in the highly anticipated big-budget film Kingston, where he will serve as the composer.
