ESPN to launch a new streaming service in Collaboration with Disney and Fox

On Wednesday, ESPN CEO Bob Iger announced that his top-selling direct-to-consumer service will be launched either in August or the fall of 2025. It will be a collaborative venture with Disney, and Fox.

ESPN’s complete programming will be available on the service, and it will offer new personalization and integration with ESPN’s fantasy platforms and ESPN Bet.

As stated by the companies, the platform will unite their respective sports networks, as well as specific DTC sports services and sports rights. All major professional sports leagues and college sports will be covered in this.

Consumers will be able to access the offering, which was described as a ‘joint venture’ divided equally between the three parties, through a new app. Disney+, Hulu, and Max will be available for subscribers to bundle the product with.

The sports streaming rights have skyrocketed with the news of both ESPN and Warner Bros joining for a venture. The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Discovery’s TNT are in the middle of negotiations for their packages.

According to sources quoted in a new CNBC report, the service will be priced at or over $40 per month. According to the report, an executive has been chosen to lead the new venture. The executive will be announced at a later date.

Fox and WBD shares declined by around 6% and 3%, respectively, during mid-morning trading on Wednesday. Disney shares experienced a slight decrease of just over 1%. Fox reported earnings before the bell. Disney will report after market close.
