Eileen OTT Release Details

Eileen, the psychological thriller set in 2023, is scheduled for an OTT release in India. Directed by William Oldroyd and based on a novel by Ottessa Moshfegh, the film will be available on JioCinema starting June 1, 2024. Starring Thomasin McKenzie, Shea Whigham, Marin Ireland, Owen Teague, and Anne Hathaway, this joint American and British production focuses on the relationship between two female corrections officers in 1960s Massachusetts.

The movie narrates the tale of Rebecca (Anne Hathaway), the striking new counselor at the correctional facility where Eileen is employed, who ensnares the young secretary amidst a brutal winter in Massachusetts in 1964. The unveiling of Rebecca’s hidden secret propels Eileen into a downward spiral, breaking their budding bond. The film made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January of the previous year, followed by a restricted release in the United States. Eileen has received positive feedback from critics, who have praised the movie’s cinematography, unexpected plot developments, and the impressive performances by McKenzie and Hathaway.

Shea Whigham portrays the character of Jim, who is Eileen’s father. Owen Teague takes on the role of Randy, while Jefferson White plays Buck. Tonye Patano portrays Mrs. Stevens, and Siobhan Fallon Hogan plays Mrs. Murray. Lastly, Peter McRobbie plays the Warden in the film Eileen. Throughout the majority of the story, Eileen and Rebecca are the main characters. Their friendship gradually develops into a romantic relationship, but unfortunately, it takes a violent turn shortly after. In a previous interview with Variety, McKenzie expressed her gratitude for the book’s availability, considering it a valuable resource. She felt that the book held all the answers for some reason. The actor did not feel the need to inquire about Ottessa’s insights into Eileen’s personality. McKenzie found a sense of subtle support and embraced the role as an opportunity to express her own unique creativity.
