Sahadeva Varma, a man who is both mysterious and influential, runs a cotton mill in the dense Talakona forest. He is reported to be dead by the government. An enthusiastic journalist tries to discover Varma’s past as an assassin, famous as Eagle. The narrative then unfolds to reveal his history in Poland and chronicles his struggle against several groups on his trail.
Raviteja’s performance in the character of Sahadeva is much different from his usual roles, and he delivers a stellar performance. Kavya Thapar excels in a smaller role. Navadeep was effective, in an important role. Anupama, who plays the leading investigative journalist, performs well. Avasarala Srinivas, Ajay Ghosh, and the rest of the cast also gave adequate performances.
Analysis:
‘Eagle”s first half revolves around continuous elevations for the lead character through the voice-over narrative from different individuals. The emphasis on style is more prevalent in this part. The buildup gives an intriguing feel as Ravi Teja has minimal dialogue, but the events in which he gets presented are interesting. The second half delves more into the personal space of the lead character, where a love track is shown along with the reason for the hero’s mission. Both the halves are designed with action episodes, while the latter half has a touch of sentimental value.
Positives:
Director Karthik attempted to have a chapter-based storytelling to give a fresh touch and this technique works for most of the parts. He also made Eagle a visually appealing because of his expertise in the Cinematography backdrop. He also designed all the action parts very well. Especially, the second half’s fights were superb.
The flashback of the film appears to be the weak link, though the reasoning sounds good, the required emotion was not present in this part. The dialogues appear a bit overdramatic at a few places because of the over usage of the voice-over narrative. Karthik could have concentrated a bit more on the overall screenplay to make it a tight one.
Eagle Verdict: Eagle is a regular action thriller with a few striking parts. The action sequences, VFX and Ravi Teja’s stunning act in a different role work well for the film. Although it has its flaws, like some inconsistency in the narration and a few dull moments, this high-quality action movie still holds the interest. Raviteja fans will love it and general audiences will find it as a decent outing.
