Devara Part 1: Story or Elevations?

In the name of franchises, there is usually limited scope for a fully developed story to be unveiled in the first part. As demonstrated by films like Baahubali, Salaar, Pushpa, and Kalki 2898 AD, the first part often focuses on creating right elevations with an engaging screenplay. Directors Rajamouli, Prashant Neel, Sukumar, and Nag Ashwin have excelled in this regard, making their mark by crafting unique worlds through their franchises.

The real test now shifts to director Koratala Siva, who has more to prove, especially after the failure of Acharya, despite having the opportunity to direct the reputed actors Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan. Jr. NTR recently commented that “Koratala just needs to be in the right space and with the right people around him.”

Devara was initially intended as a single film but was later divided into two parts due to the script’s potential. A lingering question when it was split was whether the first part would offer substantial content. The trailer provides some answers, but the extent of the content revealed in part 1 and whether the audience will connect with Jr. NTR’s elevations throughout the runtime remain to be seen. The answers will come on September 27th.
