Story:

Debbie (Priya Bhavani Shankar) is in pain from losing her husband, Samuel Richard, aka Sam (Sarjano Khalid), who dies under mysterious circumstances. Daoshi (Tsering Dorjee), a monk, helps Debbie to contact Sam’s spirit. However, fate has another plan for Debbie as she and Daoshi discover a shocking link between Sam and estranged twin brothers Srinivas and Raghu (Arulnithi). Debbie learns the existence of a cursed book, Unsung King of a Fallen Kingdom, which leads to many mysterious deaths every six years. Debbie tries to find a way to break this curse, which is linked to the Demonte Colony. What connection do the twin brothers have with the cursed book? Was Debbie successful in her attempt? The answers to these questions can only be known after watching the movie.

Performances:

Arulnithi did a good job in dual roles, and Priya Bhavani Shankar did well. The other artists, such as Antti Jaaskelainen, Tsering Dorjee, Arun Pandian, Muthukumar, Meenakshi Govindarajan, Sarjano Khalid, and Archana Ravichandran, were also appropriate.

Analysis:

Director Ajay Gnanamuthu came up with the sequel for his 2015 release, Demonty Colony. He carefully planned the interconnection between the first and second parts, along with a few twists that paved the way for the next installments in the series. While he successfully handled the suspense part till the midpoint and made the climax episode work, he faltered in making the second half a worthwhile experience.

Positives:

The film’s first half is good as it keeps one hooked to the screen with interesting proceedings. The interlink between the first and second parts worked very well. The twists near the interval part are perfect and raise the anticipation towards the latter half. Also, the film’s climax is good, though it could have been much better. The background music is very good.

Negatives:

The second half of the film comes across as a big disappointment. After such an interesting first half, things tend to loosen up, and the excitement goes missing. The ghost attack scenes get repetitive and do not provide the required thrilling experience. The climax episode looks interesting, but it fails to get to the next level because of the confusing narration regarding a crucial character.

Rating: 2.5/5

Last Line: Demonty Colony 2 – A Half-Baked Horror Thriller
