The talented lead actor has recently disclosed the much-anticipated release date for his ambitious venture. The Kollywood fans are ecstatic about a possible clash between Suriya and Rajinikanth.
Rajinikanth, the famous ‘Super Star,’ is all set to make a comeback on the big screen in the upcoming retro-style action drama film titled ‘Vettaiyan.’ Directed by T. J. Gnanavel, known for his work in the well-received film ‘Jai Bhim’ from 2021, this highly awaited movie features a stellar cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Fassil, and Rana Daggubati. Produced by Lyca Productions, ‘Vettaiyan’ is slated for a grand release in October 2024. The makers have yet to announce the exact date of Vettaiyan; now, Kollywood fans and trade circles anticipate a box-office clash between Vettaiyan and Kanguva. However, some say that Rajinikanth’s film will be released on October 31st. We will have to wait for the official confirmation from the makers. Nevertheless, Suriya’s Kanguva will encounter stiff competition from Alia Bhatt’s Jigra at the box office. Alia’s Jigra, which will be released on October 11, will be facing a box-office clash. This film is a collaboration between Alia’s home banner, Eternal Sunshine Production, and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra also stars Vedang Raina in an important role.
According to the reports, Prime Video has secured the post-theatrical rights for the movie. Kanguva is considered to be the most expensive film in Suriya’s career. Directed and written by Siva, the film narrates a story that spans over 500 years. There are rumors that Suriya and Bobby Deol will be playing dual roles in this fantasy drama. The clash between their characters in medieval avatars is anticipated to be the highlight of this blockbuster. Notably, Kanguva will mark Suriya’s first theatrical release in two years, with his last appearance being as Rolex in a guest role in Kamal Haasan’s Vikram. The actor has also announced his upcoming collaboration with Karthik Subbaraj for a tentatively titled Suriya 44 film. Furthermore, Suriya will be appearing in the Hindi movie Sarfira, a remake of his film Soorarai Pottru.
