Critical Keertanegalu is now available on OTT

Namma Flix, the Kannada OTT platform, has strategically positioned itself as a haven for Kannada cinema enthusiasts. Despite the challenge of competing with larger platforms for new content, Namma Flix has adapted its strategy. It now prioritizes the expansion of its content library with slightly older titles acquired through non-exclusive deals rather than pursuing new film acquisitions.

You may also come across several of these movies on platforms like Prime Video. However, if you are a viewer specifically interested in Kannada cinema, you might find these options at significantly reduced subscription fees on Namma Flix. Recently, films such as Urvi, Triple Riding, Munduvareda Adhyaya, Paddehuli, and more have been featured on the platform, with the most recent addition being Critical Keertanegalu. Directed by Kumaar, known for his previous works such as Chemistry of Kariyappa, Critical Keertanegalu hit the big screens in May 2022, serving as a cautionary tale on the subject of cricket gambling. Based on actual events, Kumaar’s storytelling revolves around four different narratives presented as evidence by a lawyer in his plea to have a national-level T20 cricket tournament prohibited. This socio-comedy delves into the widespread social issue of betting and its detrimental effects. The argument put forth by advocate Kariyappa (Tabla Nani) is that millions of people are risking their hard-earned money not only on the final outcome of a match but also on various aspects such as runs scored in an over, wickets taken in an over, and player statistics.

The gambling schemes are crafted to ensnare individuals by allowing them to experience a few victories. Believing that this fortunate streak will persist, they invest more funds into the activity, ultimately resulting in substantial losses that can be so severe that they feel trapped and resort to extreme measures. Upon its debut, Critical Keertanegalu received favorable feedback, although it was noted that Kumaar does not endeavor to offer a resolution to the issue.
