Kartik Aaryan devoted himself completely to his latest project, Chandu Champion, in which he portrayed Padma Shri recipient and India’s first Paralympic gold medalist, Murlikant Petkar. Helmed by Kabir Khan and backed by Sajid Nadiadwala, Kartik underwent a significant physical transformation for the role, reducing his body fat percentage from 39% to just 7% and dropping his weight from 90 kg to 72 kg. However, the commitment and dedication of the actor did not transform into the box-office success of this much-hyped biopic.
With the trade circles’ calculations, Kabir Khan’s film has shown promising numbers, collecting around Rs 2.5 crore on both Thursday and Friday. This has led to a total box office earnings of 39 Crores Net. The current trend suggests that the film has the potential to reach the 50 Crores net mark in its entirety. However, the arrival of Prabhas and Nag Ashwin’s Biggie Kalki 2898 AD, featuring Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in significant roles on Thursday, June 27, might impact the film’s performance.
