Box Office: Kalki set to create massive records at North America

Kalki 2898 AD, a film that has been eagerly awaited by fans and industry professionals alike, is set to be one of the most highly anticipated Indian film releases of the year. The ensemble cast, featuring prominent figures from Bollywood, Tollywood, and Kollywood, has sparked a wave of excitement. A significant part of the film’s anticipated success can be attributed to Prabhas’ strong influence in the industry. Despite not being directed by the likes of SS Rajamouli or Prashant Neel, Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD is witnessing a surge in ticket bookings, a clear sign of the film’s growing popularity.

Prabhas, a name that has become synonymous with success, has established himself as a premier global brand. Following the monumental success of Baahubali, his films consistently achieve impressive numbers. While other actors struggle to reach $1-1.5 million in premieres, Prabhas’ movies consistently hit the $2.5-3 million range. SS Rajamouli’s RRR and Salaar both reaped the benefits of Prabhas’ star power, with the former garnering a total of about $3.5 million and the latter reaching approximately $2.6 million from their North American premieres. Kalki 2898 AD, following in the footsteps of these successes, has the potential to reach $3 million in North American premieres, a testament to Prabhas’ influence and the film’s potential.

The advance sales figures for Kalki 2898 AD in North America are as follows:

USA:
Premieres – $464K
Day 1 – $42K

Canada:
Premieres – $32K
Day 1 – $6K
Total Premiere+Day 1 North America pre-sales gross – $544K

Kalki 2898 AD is set to make its U.S. premieres on June 26, and the ticket prices are set at a level comparable to other Rajamouli films. The average adult ticket prices for premieres and the first week in the USA are as follows: The IMAX version of the Telugu film will be priced at $35, the premium large format (PLF) at $30, and the standard version at $25 on the premiere day. On the post-premiere day, the PLF tickets will be available for $23, and the standard tickets for $20. In the case of the Hindi version, the ticket rates will be set at $17, which is higher than the usual $10 for Hindi films. The strong demand for Kalki 2898 AD is evident in the ticket prices, reflecting the high level of excitement and anticipation among the audience. The film’s success can also be attributed to Prabhas’ massive budget and grand scale, as his mere presence has a significant impact on the market and attracts substantial trade investments.
