Box Office: Dry Run for Tollywood

On the previous Friday, the Telugu Film Industry witnessed the release of two noteworthy films: Aa Okkati Adakku, starring Allari Naresh, and Prasanna Vadanam, featuring Suhas. Unfortunately, both movies failed to make a mark at the U.S. box office. However, it is worth mentioning that Prasanna Vadanam received favorable ratings from various web portals, although this did not manage to generate enthusiasm among the audience.

Aa Okkati Adakku, starring Allari Naresh, faced a disastrous outcome from the very beginning, managing to collect even less than Suhas’s film in the U.S. Prasanna Vadanam raked in a modest $53K (Thursday – Sunday Gross), while Aa Okkati Adakku only earned a meager $37K. The combined total of both films fell significantly short of reaching $100K, highlighting the unfortunate financial performance of these two releases in the U.S. Even in the Telugu States, the numbers of both these films are very low. Aa Okkati Adakku saw some surge in the collections on Saturday and reached the next level on Sunday.

Tollywood is currently undergoing a dry run, which is further exacerbated by the scorching heatwaves in the Telugu states and the prevailing election frenzy. Vishwak Sen’s Gangs Of Godavari, which will be released on the 17th of this month, marks the first film to hit the screens after the election season. The industry and trade circles expect GOG to be the game changer at the box office.
