Bhairava Anthem: A Hit or Flop?

The makers of Kalki 2898 AD left fans in suspense all day Sunday before finally unveiling the audio version of the Bhairava Anthem, with the video version getting released on Monday. Hailed as India’s grandest song, the question remains: Did it truly meet the hype? The Telugu fans’ response indicates that the song has received a standard response, although not great.

Santosh Narayanan’s musical arrangement captivates listeners with its catchy rhythms, accompanied by the Telugu lyrics skillfully penned by Ramajogaiah Sastry, ideally suited for Prabhas and Diljit Dosanjh’s unique vocal styles, resulting in a pleasurable auditory experience. However, despite these commendable qualities, the song falls short of creating a revolutionary impact. The incorporation of Punjabi elements into a Telugu song appears slightly disconnected, failing to resonate deeply with the Telugu audience. Many felt that more care should have been taken regarding the mix of lyrics in the Telugu version.

But the good news is that the northern audience has found this song likable. As far as the lyrics are concerned, the Hindi version’s mix of Hindi and Punjabi lyrics was done well, and it is very well known that Bollywood films have been used to listen to Punjabi songs for years. Let’s hope that Bhairava Anthem paves the way for the pre-release hype of Kalki 2898 AD in Telugu States.
