The film “Bastar: The Naxal Story,” directed by Sudipto Sen and starring Adah Sharma, was initially released in theaters on March 15, 2024. Following a successful theatrical run, the movie is now set to premiere on the digital platform ZEE5. Today, the streaming service announced that Adah Sharma’s film “Bastar” will be available for viewing on May 17, 2024, offering audiences the chance to experience the story of the Naxalite-Maoist insurgency in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh from the comfort of their own homes. ZEE5 shared the OTT premiere date of Adah Sharma-starrer Bastar on Instagram. The caption to the streaming platform’s post read, “A sincere officer, and an even badass fighter. Naxalwaad ko jadd se mitane aa rahi hai IPS Neerja Madhavan. Bastar premieres on 17th May only on ZEE5. Available in Hindi and Telugu. BastarOnZEE5 (sic).”
Adah portrayed IPS officer Neerja Madhavan in the movie. During a recent interview, the actress mentioned that multiple individuals influenced her role. She stated, “The response is a mix of yes and no (smiles). Essentially, it has been shaped by a few individuals who exist in real life. However, there isn’t a direct correlation to any single person. The character combines different qualities and traits from various people.”
Vipul Amrutlal Shah produced Bastar, which unfortunately did not perform well at the box office and received a lackluster response from the audience. In addition to Adah, the cast of Bastar includes Indira Tiwari as Ratna, Shilpa Shukla as Neelam Nagpal, Yashpal Sharma as Utpal Trivedi, and Raima Sen as Vanya Roy, among others. If you missed the opportunity to watch Bastar: The Naxal Story in theaters, you can now look forward to streaming it on ZEE5 after a week.
