In a move that underscores the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) commitment to their star pacer, Mustafizur Rahman’s IPL stint with the Chennai Super Kings has been extended by a day.
Originally granted leave to play in the IPL until April 30, Mustafizur will now be available for CSK’s crucial clash against Punjab Kings on May 1. This extension, facilitated upon requests from both CSK and the BCCI, allows the 27-year-old to participate in the team’s upcoming matches against Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings.
The BCB’s decision reflects their recognition of Mustafizur’s importance to the Bangladesh setup, particularly with the T20 World Cup looming later this year. After facing some selection challenges due to inconsistent performances, the pacer has found form in the ongoing IPL, taking 10 wickets at an impressive average of 18.30. This timely resurgence underscores Mustafizur’s continued value as Bangladesh’s premier T20I bowler, and the BCB is keen to ensure he is well-prepared for the rigors of international cricket upon his return from the IPL.
