Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, featuring Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in prominent roles, was released as an EID Special. With a whopping budget of Rs 350 crore, this film was eagerly anticipated as a grand entertainer that would captivate audiences. However, it has unfortunately fallen short of expectations significantly since its release on Eid 2024.
The film, promoted as a guaranteed success, premiered in cinemas on the previous Thursday and even had some paid advanced screenings in the evening before its official release. However, despite having an extended weekend and the advantage of the previews, BMCM has achieved minimal success within seven days and has yet to reach the Rs 50 crore milestone at the domestic box office, let alone surpass it. The hype surrounding the box office earnings of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is primarily focused on whether the film can experience a turnaround and recover from its massive budget. Over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday), the movie managed to rake in nearly Rs 10 crore daily. Nevertheless, the film’s performance took a nosedive during the weekdays, failing to reach even half of the weekend earnings, resulting in a disappointing outcome. The figures for day seven present a disheartening development for the producers who have poured a significant sum into the project.
According to trade experts, by the conclusion of the initial week, on the seventh day, the action film led by Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff had accumulated only Rs 2.50 crore at the domestic box office. The film’s total collection now stands at Rs 48 crore net at the Indian box office. It isn’t very pleasant to note that Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has failed to reach the Rs 50 crore mark domestically. This is disheartening considering the recent success of big-budget films and the overall positive trajectory of the Hindi film industry in the past two years.
