Alia Bhatt’s Poacher: Shedding Light on India’s Ivory Poaching Ring

Alia Bhatt steps into the realm of production with the introduction of “Poacher,” a gripping web series that delves into the chilling reality of India’s largest ivory poaching syndicate. While she doesn’t take on an acting role in the series, Bhatt serves as the Executive Producer through her production company, Eternal Sunshine Productions. Written, created, and directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta, “Poacher” boasts an esteemed ensemble cast, including Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya.

The series brings to light the harrowing tale of Indian Forest Service officers, NGO workers, and police constables who risked their lives to dismantle the ivory poaching ring. In a bone-chilling awareness video released by Prime Video, viewers are transported into the heart of the forest, where the serene ambiance is marred by the presence of violence and death. Bhatt’s narration underscores the gravity of the crimes committed against both humans and animals, prompting audiences to reflect on the equal value of all lives.

“Poacher” aims to shed light on the atrocities inflicted upon wildlife by poachers, transforming the once-safe haven of the forest into a battleground for survival. Executive produced by QC Entertainment’s Edward H. Hamm Jr., Raymond Mansfield, and Sean McKittrick, along with Suitable Pictures, Poor Man’s Productions, and Eternal Sunshine Productions, the series is set to premiere worldwide on February 23 on Prime Video.
