Prime Video has now started streaming the much-anticipated Maidaan for all subscribers after being available for rent for approximately two weeks. The movie, featuring the charismatic Ajay Devgn in the lead role, was initially released in theaters on April 12, 2024, and has now made its way to OTT platforms after a theatrical run of nearly two months. While it may not have significantly impacted the box office, Maidaan managed to captivate the audience who watched it on the big screen. It remains to be seen how the film will fare now that it is available on Prime Video, but the excitement is palpable.

Maidaan portrays the life of India’s most exceptional football coach, who served from 1952 to 1962. His commitment and passion are the focal points. Coach Syed Abdul Rahim (portrayed by Ajay Devgn) overcomes systemic barriers to build a team capable of winning championships. Despite this, he steers the team to success in the Olympic and Asian Games of 1956. His tale is one of unyielding spirit and conquering insurmountable challenges. Maidaan features Priyamani as Ajay’s onscreen wife, Saira Rahim, while Gajraj Rao portrays Roy Chaudhary. The film also includes Devyansh Tripathi, Rishab Joshi, Nitanshi Goel, Aayesha Vindhara, Meenal Patel, Rudranil Ghosh, Baharul Islam, Zaheer Mirza, Madhur Mittal, Chaitanya Sharma, Tejas Ravishankar, Davinder Gill, Amartya Ray, Sushant Waydande, Abhilash Thapliyal, Manandeep Singh, Vishnu G Varrier, Raphael Jose, Jayanth V., Aaman Munshi, Sai Kishore, Amandeep Thakur, Tanmay Bhattacharjee, Arko Das, Prajwal Maski, and Vijay Maurya in significant roles, among others.

AR Rahman composed the music, while Manoj Muntashir penned the lyrics for the movie. Principal photography of Maidaan commenced on August 19, 2019, and faced substantial setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Cyclone Nisarga. Eventually, it concluded in May 2022. The post-production process, which was yet to be completed, delayed the film’s theatrical release until June 3, 2022. However, the release date was further postponed to June 23, 2023 and finally the film was released on April 12, 2024.
