Adheera: Binni Takes Charge in PVCU

The cinematic universe has been a successful formula in Hollywood and Bollywood alike, and now South Indian directors are showing interest in this aspect. The first to generate significant interest in this trend was director Lokesh Kanagaraj with his LCU (Loki Cinematic Universe). Films such as “Karthi’s Khaidi,” “Kamal Haasan’s Vikram,” and “Vijay’s Leo” are part of this universe, and their interconnected storylines have captivated audiences, leading to substantial box office success. The craze surrounding these films has demonstrated the potential for cinematic universes to thrive in the South Indian film industry.

Following in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s footsteps, the talented director Prashant Varma has embarked on creating his own cinematic universe, with the potential first release being “Hanuman,” starring Teja Sajja and Amritha Aiyer. Even before its release, Varma announced that the success of “Hanuman” would pave the way for many more intriguing projects helmed by talented directors. The film’s blockbuster success has indeed set the stage for further expansions, and several new films are now in the pipeline within this cinematic universe, showcasing the genre’s growing popularity and viability.

Among these forthcoming projects are the highly anticipated sequel “Jai Hanuman” and a new superhero venture titled “Adheera.” In “Adheera,” renowned producer DVV Danayya’s son, Kalyan Dasari, will make his debut as a hero. Though the film’s first look was revealed some time ago, it faced delays due to unspecified reasons. Recent reports indicate that while Prashant Varma was initially set to direct “Adheera,” it will now be directed by choreographer-turned-director Vijay Binni, known for his impressive directorial debut with “Naa Saami Ranga.” Varma will continue to contribute by providing the story and screenplay, and Hanuman’s producer, Niranjan Reddy, is expected to produce the project. This collaboration highlights the dynamic and evolving nature of South Indian cinema’s foray into creating expansive cinematic universes.
