Stree 2 Movie Review

1st half: Good

The film kicks off with a spine-chilling moment that has a touch of horror, and it later delves into a connection with its predecessor—this time featuring a gender-swapped ghost in the spotlight. As the film progresses, the entertainment begins with Rajkummar Rao and Aparshakti Khurana, supported by Pankaj Tripathi. The film maintains an entertaining tone, but it truly picks up when the Bhediya post-credit scene is linked, and Abhishek Banerjee joins the party.

Living up to the universe’s brand, the film continues to entertain with the trio, complemented by impressive visual effects. So far, Shraddha has had only a few scenes, but they are highly impactful.

The interval scene resembles a smaller version of the Baahubali and KGF interval sequences, with a supernatural twist. So far, the film has stayed true to the essence of its predecessor, and it looks promising for the latter half as well.

2nd half: Decent

After an entertaining initial half, this one starts on an okayish note but later picks up well with an important last 40-minute sequence filled with excellent visual effects. A mix of horror elements coupled with entertainment makes it engaging. The link to Bhediya and Munjya post-credit scenes, along with a twist in Shraddha’s characterization, made it worth the ticket price.

Killer, thanks to Akshay Kumar!

My Review:

“A supernatural treat with a good dose of entertainment”

Hats off to Maddock Universe once again for bringing another gem into their world with the sequel of Stree. The creators of this universe deserve all the credit for making us attached to the supernatural elements and achieving success through all four installments.

Coming to the film, the first half was quite entertaining, while the latter half shifts into a more serious mode with occasional humor. The highlight of the film is the innocent love between Rajkummar Rao’s character and Shraddha Kapoor’s. The makers convincingly portrayed the bond between a man and a witch, which truly stole my heart.

The crossover scenes between Stree and Bhediya were very intriguing. The way the Bhediya post-credit scene and especially the one with Munjya’s post-credit scene tied into this film was masterfully done.

Akshay Kumar’s cameo was unexpected and very entertaining. He has a more significant role to play in this universe in the upcoming installments, with a standalone film also being planned.

We’ve seen many crossovers in the past, but the way characters from different standalone films in this universe unite for a song and fight for a character was truly engaging. This angle might even be explored further if the makers decide to delve into a triangular love story in future films.

The beauty of the Maddock Franchise is that even during serious haunting scenes, they bring in proper entertainment that feels natural and adds to the film’s enjoyment, even during crucial stages.

Overall Verdict: Stree 2 has all the elements that a movie enthusiast strives for, and if you’re a follower of the Maddock Universe, you’re definitely in for a treat. Don’t miss it!

Note:* It’s a personal opinion. It will not be based on it’s film run or the talk on the other side.
