Actor Jitendra Kumar, best known for playing Jeetu Bhaiya in the hit TVF series Kota Factory, recently opened up about the insecurity that plagued him for years – his Hindi medium education background. Despite cracking the prestigious IIT entrance exam, Kumar admitted feeling like an outsider around kids who studied at English medium schools.
The talented actor revealed that even his own family was impressed by English-speaking students, making him feel inferior. He pointed out the unfortunate reality that English is treated as a “premium language” in India, leading to a sense of insecurity among those from Hindi backgrounds. Kumar believes this mind-set is unique to India, as other countries have preserved and valued their native languages.
Jitendra highlighted how this prejudice towards English extends beyond just academics to professional spheres like Bollywood as well. The industry operates in English off-screen but requires actors to deliver dialogues in Hindi, underscoring the skewed attitude. Having overcome this insecurity himself, Kumar hopes for a more equitable treatment of all languages. The actor will be reprising his beloved role in the upcoming seasons of Kota Factory and Panchayat.
