Story:

Arjun (Varun Tej) is a wing commander in the Indian Air Force. When he is in the recovering phase from a tragic past, is called to lead a new mission by the higher officials. Before Arjun gets into his mission completely, Pulwama attack takes place and India loses more than 40 soldiers. How does the Indian Air Force retaliate to this attack by Pakistan? What is Project Vajra? What is the role of another commander Ahana (Manushi Chhillar)in the entire mission, who is also Arjun’s wife? Answers to these questions can be only known by watching the movie.

Performances:

Varun Tej and Manushi Chillar both were perfect as Indian Air Force officers, and they looked good as a pair also. They tried to maintain the tempo of the film with their performances. Navdeep does not have much scope. Paresh Pahuja, Shataf Figar, Ruhani Sharma, Sampath Raj, and others were apt.

Analysis:

The film takes off with Pakistan planning a potential strike aimed at India. Although the first half has little drama from either country’s standpoint, momentum builds around the pre-interval mark, preparing the mission for Operation Valentine. The second half starts on a good high point and continues for a while only to end on a regular note.

Positives:

The basic plot of the film is intriguing regardless of its similarities with other films. The Pre interval and action sequences in the second half work well for the film. The VFX was also good apart from a few tacky moments.

Negatives:

Despite Operation Valentine being a different and honest effort, it fails to generate the necessary emotional impact because of boring drama. The first half heavily concentrates on the lead pair’s love track which does not have any effect and the most talked about flashback of Project Vajra was also handled poorly. Though the film provides occasional high moments, the ending lacked the required effectiveness. The background score which is very crucial for this kind of films falls flat.

Last Line: Operation Success — Patient Dead

Note:* It’s a personal opinion. It will not be based on it’s film run or the talk on the other side.
