Story:

Big Bull (Sanjay Dutt) is a powerful Don. He is diagnosed with a brain tumor and is told that he cannot live for more than a few months. Big Bull then aims to undergo a brain transplant and inject his memories to another person. How Shankar (Ram Pothineni), a local gangster, gets involved in this? What connection does Shankar have with Big Bull? Will Shankar be able to thrash the intentions of Big Bull? The rest of the film answers all the questions.

Performances:

Ram was good as Ismart Shankar. He maintained the energy and tried to excel. Sanjay Dutt suited the villain role, but he did not have any scope to perform. Kavya Thapar provided the required glam show. Ali irritated with his indecent comedy. Shiyaji Shinde, and others were okay.

Analysis:

Double iSmart is a sequel to iSmart Shankar directed by Puri Jagannadh. The movie starts with showing the mother-son sentiment and then gets into the main plot by introducing the Big Bull, Sanjay Dutt, and his health issue. Then follows the hyper-energetic Shankar’s love track with Jannat (Kavya Thapar). Nevertheless a few fun parts work well, the narration does not deliver the required effect. Though the second half has some twists and a partly working finale, it cannot take the impact to the next level.

Positives:

The initial setup is good in the film. As said above, Ram makes a few moments of the film bearable with his constant energy and dialogue delivery. The twist at the climax works, though it is predictable.

Negatives:

Double iSmart suffers because of poor drama and weak writing. Though the plot was novel, Puri failed to set up exciting narration around it. The characterizations are shallow, and the proceedings never give the required impact. Even the crucial segment of the mother sentiment looks too formulaic and the scenes involving Pragathi at pre climax are unintentionally hilarious. Ali’s comedy was terrible, and he irritates whenever he arrives on the screen.

Last Line: Double Ismart – An Over the Top Aciton Drama
