Anirudh impresses with the First Single of Indian 2

Numerous uncertain rumors and mixed vibes surround Shankar’s upcoming sequel, Indian 2. The promotions started with a theme video, which was unveiled a couple of months back. It was met with a predominantly unfavorable reception, with music director Anirudh facing criticism for his background score.

The film’s initial tracks, Paara (Tamil) and Souraa (Telugu) have been released, and the overall feedback has been positive. Nevertheless, some individuals compared Anirudh’s composition with songs from the original Indian (1996) movie. While this comparison may not be entirely unwarranted, it is important to acknowledge that it is impossible for Anirudh to replicate the level of excellence that A.R. Rahman achieved in the first installment. Anirudh has managed to maintain the integrity of the standalone song. Despite the initial negativity, it serves as a commendable beginning for the film. The fast-paced lyrical video vividly portrays Kamal Haasan’s character, delving into the themes of patriotism and heroism. Complementing the song are captivating animated visuals.

Indian 2, directed by veteran filmmaker S Shankar and starring Kamal Haasan, serves as the sequel to the highly successful 1996 film Indian. In the original film, Kamal Haasan portrayed dual roles, with one being the iconic character Senapathy, a former freedom fighter who transforms into a vigilante fighting against corruption in India. Indian 2 marks the return of Senapathy. However, the original cast members of Indian 2, such as Manisha Koirala, Ambika, Goundamani, and Senthil, will not be part of the upcoming sequel. Instead, Indian 2 will feature an impressive ensemble cast, including Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, Nedumudi Venu, Vivek, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram, Delhi Ganesh, Jayaprakash, Manobala, Vennela Kishore, and Deepa Shankar, among others.
