The polling across the state on Monday was 78.36 per cent this time. It was less than 1.38 per cent polled in the last elections in 2019.Women went to the polling stations in large numbers. Even the pensioners and beneficiaries of all schemes have also filled the polling stations in the morning hours. The trend looked as if the people were comfortable with the government. There is no option for them to drop Jagan Mohan Reddy and see another leader as the chief minister. They have seen Chandrababu Naidu for 14 years and there was nothing new for them to see in him.
There was no strong feeling among the people that this government should go. There were no strong voices against this government except by the hardcore fans of the opposition parties. People in general looked comfortable with this government and hence there would not be any change.
Volunteers at the ward and village level have readied the beneficiaries in the early morning and sent them to the polling stations. The pensioners were in the front line in reaching the polling stations and casting their vote. There was no need for repoll at any place across the state. Perhaps this was the first election where re-polling was not required. Except for a few stray incidents, the polling was by and large peaceful. There was no strong feeling among the people to vote out this government and hence there was no violence. Only a few activists of the opposition parties have created some tense situations in some places.
