Woman of the Hour, the thriller that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, was also the first film of Anna Kendrik as a filmmaker. The film is based on the true story of the Dating Game serial killer Rodney Alcala. Women of the Hour is all set to make its OTT debut soon.
The interesting thing is the film has skipped the theatrical release and is having a direct OTT release. Netflix, the OTT giant, has bagged the digital rights to this thriller. According to the latest trailer, Woman of the Hour will be available on Netflix starting October 18, 2024. As of now, it is still not revealed whether the prominent streaming platform will premiere the film worldwide. It is also being said that Netflix has also sold the film’s rights to other digital platforms like Lionsgate, which will premiere Women of the Hour in India and Sri Lanka.
Women of the Hour received exceptional reviews upon its TIFF premiere, and the critics hailed Kendrick’s direction. The film focuses on the events of the Dating Game show after Alcala won a date with Bachelorette Cheryl Bradshaw. Kendrick plays the character named Bradshaw, while Daniel Zovatto appears as Alcala. Nicolette Robinson, Tony Hale, Kathryn Gallagher, Kelley Jakle, Autumn Best, Jessie Fraster, Taylor Hasting, Jedidiah Goodacare, and Darcy Laurie in the supporting roles.
