TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu would be contesting from Kuppam Assembly constituency in Chittoor district. He had been contesting from here for the past seven Assembly elections. This time too he would be contesting from here.
Sources in the TDP say that Chandrababu Naidu would also be contesting from another seat this time. It is likely that he would be contesting from one seat in the North Andhra region. He is currently conducting a survey to find the safest constituency.
Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy would be contesting from Pulivendula Assembly constituency. He had been contesting from there for the past three elections. Earlier, he was the Kadapa MP and now he limited himself to the Pulivendula Assembly constituency.
Quite interestingly, TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh had announced that he would be contesting from Mangalagiri Assembly constituency. He lost this seat in the 2019 general election, his first direct election, by a margin of 5,337 votes to YSR Congress Party’s Alla Ramakrishna Reddy. This time, Ramakrishna Reddy had left the YSR Congress Party. The party is likely to field a BC leader, Ganji Chiranjeevi, against Lokesh.
But the big question is where Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan contest from this time! In the last Assembly elections, he contested the Gajuwaka Assembly constituency in Visakhapatnam and Bhimavaram Assembly constituency in West Godavari district. Ironically, he lost both the seats.
He was defeated in Gajuwaka by a margin of 14,520 votes and Bhimavaram by 8,357 votes. It was a humiliating defeat for the Jana Sena chief who started the party ten years ago.
Now, ahead of the 2024 general election, Pawan Kalyan is still to declare from where he would be contesting the next election. He is hesitating to announce it now for the reasons best known to him. He is not daring enough to name the constituency.
Leave Chandrababu Naidu and Jagan Mohan Reddy who have already declared their Assembly seats, even Lokesh had announced his constituency, but not Pawan Kalyan! What is pulling him back to name his constituency is not known!
