Senior YSR Congress leader and minister Botsa Satyanarayana said that the violent incidents took place in the places where the election commission had changed the SPs. He said that the EC had changed some SPs and district collectors based on the report of a retired officer. He alleged that the retired officer took the stand in favour of the opposition TDP.
Botsa felt that the election commission should have taken the background of the officials before appointing them as SPs and collectors. It was not proper on the part of the election commission to appoint officials without consulting the chief secretary. The result is now seen in several areas where the opposition TDP is resorting to violence.
Botsa alleged that the TDP targeted the YSR Congress leaders out of fear of losing the elections. They have realised that the TDP is losing the election, he said. He further said that the TDP had also postponed the Mahanadu only because of the expected defeat in the election.
The Minister said that Jagan Mohan Reddy would take oath on June 9 in Visakhapatnam. He would also start working from this port city as it was named as the executive capital of the state. He said that the YSR Congress government would take all necessary steps to make Visakhapatnam as the executive capital of the state.
He said that the YSR Congress would win over 34 Assembly seats in the North Andhra region. People in the region have supported the YSR Congress in the elections, he said. The huge turnout of the people, particularly the women, at the polling stations was the result of the welfare schemes implemented by Jagan Mohan Reddy in the last five years, he said.
Referring to the elections to the Parliament, the Minister said that there should be a stable government at the Centre. However, this time, because of the issues concerning the state, the YSR Congress wants a government that would depend more on the YSR Congress for its survival. Only then, the state gets all the benefits, he asserted.
