Vijaypath: Ajay Devgn’s Blockbuster Completes 30 Years

Today marks the 30th anniversary of Ajay Devgn and Tabu’s collaboration. Their first film together, Vijaypath, was released on August 5, 1994. This milestone celebrates three decades of on-screen partnership between the talented duo. Directed by Farouq Siddique, the action drama also featured Danny Denzongpa, Gulshan Grover, Reema Lagoo, and Suresh Oberoi in pivotal roles. Vijaypath is a tale of vengeance. Justice Saxena’s family experiences immense happiness until Inspector Rajesh Saxena captures Bhawani Singh, a notorious gangster—Justice Saxena sentences Bhawani Singh to death. In an act of retribution, Bhawani Singh’s brother Dilawar Singh kills the judge and Shanker, the judge’s driver. Dilawar Singh also goes after his brothers. Karan, the son of Driver Shanker, loses his eyesight while saving Babloo, the son of Justice Saxena. Justice Saxena’s wife, their two children, and Rajesh Saxena flee the city. Dilawar Singh finds them, kills the judge’s wife, and pushes Babloo off a moving train. Just before dying, Babloo gives Karan the gift of sight. Karan vows to avenge Dilawar Singh, and then only he will remove his glasses.

Tabu took over the role of Divya Bharti in Vijaypath following her untimely death. The movie’s famous song, Ruk Ruk Ruk Arre Baba Ruk, starring Devgn and Tabu, is well-known to many. Anu Malik was the music composer for the film, while Shyam Anuragi penned the lyrics for the song. Vijaypath was a successful film, grossing Rs. 7.35 crore in its lifetime, as reported by Bollywood Trade Circles. It was also ranked as the tenth highest-grossing Bollywood movie of 1994.
