During the promotions of Vijay Sethupathi’s 50th film, “Maharaja,” a familiar question resurfaced, causing the actor to exclaim, “How many times will this question chase me?” The inquiry pertained to his relationship with actress Krithi Shetty, a topic that has persistently shadowed his media interactions. This repeated questioning stems from a specific incident involving a proposed film collaboration that ultimately did not materialize.
The situation began when a director approached Vijay Sethupathi with a film project, suggesting Krithi Shetty as his co-star. Vijay Sethupathi, however, declined the proposal, sparking curiosity and speculation among media and fans. The rejection raised eyebrows until the actor explained his reasons, which were met with understanding and appreciation. Despite the clarity provided, the topic continues to resurface during his public appearances, much to his frustration.
Vijay Sethupathi has reiterated his stance, stating that he would not feel comfortable acting alongside Krithi Shetty, especially given their previous roles in the film “Uppena,” released in 2019. In “Uppena,” Vijay portrayed Krithi’s father, and during the shoot, he reassured her of his paternal-like support. When the same director suggested pairing them in 2021, Vijay felt it was inappropriate due to their earlier on-screen relationship and his protective sentiment towards Krithi. This principled stand continues to generate questions, despite his consistent and clear explanations.
