On August 15th, 2024, Dinesh Vijan’s production company, Maddock Films, is set to create a significant impression with the simultaneous release of two films. The much-anticipated horror-comedy sequel Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, will be showcased in cinemas. Furthermore, Vijan will unveil the first glimpses of two major upcoming projects: Sky Force, featuring Akshay Kumar, and Chhava, starring Vicky Kaushal.
Chhava, a historical drama centered around Chatrapathi Shivaji’s son Sambhaji, is slated to premiere on December 6, 2024. Initially, Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, was planned for release on August 15. Nevertheless, owing to production setbacks, its release date has been rescheduled to December 6. Both Chhava and Pushpa 2 are scheduled for release on December 6, causing a stir of speculation in the industry. Pushpa 2 is anticipated to make a massive impact at the box office in the South and Hindi-speaking regions, with expectations of a strong opening.
In such a circumstance, any movie that goes up against it will undoubtedly face a setback at the box office. However, the makers of Chhava are bravely sticking to their December 6 release date, choosing not to change their plans even though they will be competing with Pushpa 2. This move has raised questions about their confidence and strategy. There are whispers that Pushpa 2 might experience further delays. Also, since Chhava is a historical film, the trade pundits believe that the film can draw audiences to the theaters despite facing a massive competitor like Pushpa 2. Let us see who wins this battle at the box office.
