Vettaiyan Bangalore: Telugu version has more shows than Kannada Version of Rajinikanth’s film

Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest film Vettaiyan has been released in theaters worldwide today. The cop drama’s posters and promos enthralled the fans, and though the bookings looked ordinary at the beginning, they picked up as the film’s theatrical release date came nearer. However, there is an interesting thing that happened with regard to the theater allocation for the film. The film has more shows of Telugu version than Kannada in Bengaluru.

Usually, the Kannada audiences demand every big film to be available in their language and openly show their frustration about this issue. However, because of popular demand for the original versions, the distributors of Karnataka always prefer not to release the Kannada-dubbed versions of those films. For Vettaiyan, a total of 5 screens and 13 shows across theaters in Bengaluru have been allocated for the Kannada version. Surprisingly, the Telugu version has been allocated 21 screens with 79 shows. The Hindi version has the same number of shows and screens as the Kannada version, while the original Tamil version has a massive number of shows and screens.

Even during the release of Rajamouli’s RRR, there was a huge uproar from the local audiences regarding the unavailability of the Kannad-dubbed version, but the distributors stated that there was no demand for RRR’s Kannada version from the exhibitors. Also, Jailer, the previous movie of Rajinikanth, had a good release in Kannada with enough screens. But the Kannada version of Jailer was able to collect only 5 crore gross, but the Tamil version had collected 70 crore gross.
